AXIS Member Advisory Committee Outline

Purpose

The purpose of the Member Advisory Committee is to support the mission and goals of AXIS Healthcare by representing the experiences, perceptions, and needs of persons with disabilities, their families and other support persons.

Composition

The committee is composed of nine to 12 members representing a cross-section of disabilities and ages, reflective of persons with disabilities in the community.

Objectives

1. To identify general health care and support needs of persons with physical disabilities.
2. To represent the experiences and difficulties experienced by persons with physical disabilities in obtaining needed services.
3. To interact with the disability community, bringing issues and concerns in the community to the attention of AXIS workgroups and management staff.
4. To advise regarding new member recruitment and enrollment.
5. To advise regarding provider network composition and standards.
6. To advise in the development of consumer education and outreach strategies.
7. To advise regarding member benefits design, including alternative benefits and coordination of benefits with social, educational and vocational services.
8. To promote the AXIS model, seeking support and participation from customers, providers and payors.
